Augustus Seton sold his soul and decided to throw a few others into the mix. He's got some hellaciously serious atoning to do. How much? Well, he's saved the world from the abyss, and vampires, and bogles and various other things and I still don't think he's close to finished. These stories were pretty great and I'll admit that I spent a lot of time looking things up on the internet and studying maps of Scotland. It really wasn't necessary to these tales, but I'm kind of a nut like that. I loved the locations and the time period. I'm hoping there are many more tales of Augustus to come. Thanks for the grand stories Mr. Meikle. Yep, I'd recommend this book and author.Product details

Augustus Seton Collected Chronicles eBook William Meikle Reviews
These stories were well-paced and introduced a fantastic characters set in 16th Century Scotland. Facing monsters, both traditional and Lovecraftian, Seton uses his infernal sword, gained as part of a pact with the devil, to try and do the right thing. This character reminds me very much of Robert Howard's Solomon Kane. Augustus is confined to the lands of Scotland but finds himself in dangerous situations throughout the kingdom.
The only problem that I encountered was the author sometimes will fall into a first person style for a sentence or two, which throws off the flow of the stories.
