The author spends far too many words telling the reading what the characters are thinking while only giving the briefest of explanation of the actions of the characters. This makes for a very slow read as the reader is forced to go back several times to understand how the characters seemed to be in a different location.

This was a fun read. I enjoyed it so much that I read it in a day. A few slow parts and a bit wordy in some areas, but overall I enjoyed it.
This strong has everything of romance and adventure. Both of the main characters are very stubborn with each other without realizing their similar in every aspect in themselves and life experiences.

If you love historical romances, then you will not want to miss Kismet by Monica Burns. This book has it all.... romance, passion, action, adventure, and intrigue. The characters are fascinating.... Allegra and Shaheen have both led troubled lives and have had bad experiences, but they are both survivors. Their journey to love is fraught with peril but kept me riveted right from the start. I highly recommend this novel.
Monica Burns has captured my attention again! The characters of Allegra and Sheik Shaheen are so good. Their attraction to each other is immediate but each has their own past to overcome. The story is adventurous and exciting.
4.5 stars. Great historical romance, highly entertaining! Quick summary--The heroine, Allegra, is a courtesan visiting her friend in Morocco who gets spirited away in a blood feud between tribes. The hero, Shaheen, aka Robert, a long-lost Viscount, has spent 15 years in the desert after running away from his heritage. They find a grand passion in the desert. The plot moves quickly and it never drags spurred along by the blood feud. On the characters--Shaheen is HOT. He's rough around the edges, borderline misogynist, treats Allegra somewhat crudely, but has his big redemption by the end. Do you believe he does love her by the end? Absolutely. Allegra is clever and courageous. Her character is a little flatter than Shaheen's. While it's explained why she's a courtesan, she seems just a tad too jaded. She's the reason I couldn't give it 5 stars. The sex scenes are hot, driven by Shaheen's desire. Allegra's seems less believable. You'll like this book if you like strong men who take charge. Alot of their relationship is based on mutual sexual attraction. So you probably won't like this so much if you like romance leads who gradually grow attached to each other over time.
This is what you should expect in a historical romance novel romanticj setting, bold hero with a jaded past and a herione with a shady one as well, set in the desert. He is a sheik and she is a famous courtesan who entrances all who see her. All the males want her but she is bedazzeled by him and he of her. Their story is set among the tribes of the bedouin and their fighting among and with each other. It is very daring and exciting with horses, lavish tents, kidnapping and rescues. This could have been a movie in the 1940's or 50's. The writing is lush and the characters are flawed but very real. The romance is very well done with sexy execution. You are so drawn into this with her visuals that you almost need popcorn because you think it is a movie. If you love the romance of old films and rich characters, this one is for you. Enjoy!
